After three years of publicity studies at the ABK Maastricht, Judith Montens graduated with success at the Rietveld Academie Amsterdam, department Product Design. Her graduation project was published October 2007 in ITEMS. She did her internship at Kiki van Eijk in Eindhoven and participated in workshops guided by Ted Noten. Exhibitions in Birmingham custard Factory and the Rob Koudijs Galery Amsterdam followed. Judith was also present at the Dutch Design week with the project: The Waitingroom, a collaboration with Bruno Vermeersch. At this moment Judith is among other things involved with the start of a new collective named Kladblok, where her ambition to keep in conversation and work with other disciplines can be further investigated.
Judith Montens aims for an antique aesthetics or even an absolute beauty that surrenders itself to the object. It is an ode to the object and with these focuses she is searching for an equilibrium between chaos and order. Judith Montens tries to add as much as possible to the world of the user by means of a hidden story, a piece of her own world or a twist that puts one to thinking.
